About the Role

As an Underwriting Assistant supporting Ledgebrook's Inland Marine team, you'll play a key role in helping our underwriters efficiently quote, issue, and manage policies across a nationwide book of business. You'll work closely with AAIS forms and manuscript wordings, ensuring every policy is processed accurately and on time.

This is a fully remote, nationwide position reporting to Thomas Klingner. You'll be the operational backbone of the underwriting team, keeping submissions, endorsements, and renewals moving smoothly while giving underwriters the support they need to focus on risk selection and relationship management.

What You'll Do:

  • Process Policies & Endorsements: Prepare, issue, and process new business submissions, renewals, and endorsements for inland marine accounts, primarily using AAIS forms.
  • Support the Underwriting Team: Assist underwriters with quoting, rating, and binding coverage, gathering the information needed to move submissions forward quickly.
  • Maintain Forms & Documentation: Select and apply the correct AAIS forms and manuscript endorsements for each risk, keeping policy files complete and audit-ready.
  • Manage Renewals: Track renewal timelines, request updated exposure information, and ensure timely turnaround on renewal policies.
  • Coordinate with Agents & Brokers: Serve as a point of contact for policy status updates, outstanding requirements, and documentation requests.
  • Ensure Quality & Compliance: Review submissions and issued policies for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with state filings and forms requirements.
  • Maintain System Records: Keep policy and underwriting files accurate and up to date in Ledgebrook's policy administration system.
  • Support Special Projects: Assist Thomas Klingner and the Inland Marine team with process improvements and other initiatives as needed.

About you

We love working with people who are eager to learn constantly and genuinely excited about the chaotic, rewarding process of building a company from the ground up.

You’ll be a great fit if you bring:

  • Customer-First Empathy: You are passionate about delivering an exceptional experience to everyone you work with, both inside and outside the company.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: You naturally question the status quo and love finding innovative ways to solve problems.
  • A Growth Mindset: You possess a hunger for continuous learning and want to constantly expand your skillset.
  • Urgency & Prioritization: You can pivot quickly and balance the need to get things right with the speed of getting them done right now.
  • A Solution-Oriented Outlook: When things go wrong, you don't look for blame—you immediately focus on how to fix it.
  • Transparent Communication: You value honesty, clarity, and open feedback.
  • Team-First Energy: You want to win together as a high-performing team and actively build connections across our remote locations.
