Title: Director of Sales & Marketing

Location: Remote

Shift: 100% Remote work with core working hours of 11 AM - 4 PM EST.

 

About The Role

As the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will have the opportunity to own the strategy and execution of all efforts driving our new client revenue, supporting communications to our existing clients and partners, shaping TaxValet’s brand, and creating growth in the competitive sales tax industry. As a member of TaxValet’s leadership team, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a rapidly growing company and build a world-class team in an environment that values innovation, data-driven decision making, and transformative client experiences.

We are looking for someone who is strategic, yet hands-on, with experience building and scaling sales and marketing efforts. We need someone who can do more with less and expand our impact despite a bootstrapped budget.

 

Your Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow professionally, and wants a career (not just a job). We can train you on a lot of things, but here are our non-negotiables:

 Professional

  • 5+ years of sales and marketing experience in an in-house or agency role with experience leading or managing a team
  • Expertise in managing pipeline development and helping teams hit their sales targets
  • Expertise in digital marketing, demand generation and supporting a sales team
  • Proven track record in successfully implementing strategies to meet revenue generation targets 
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms like HubSpot or Salesforce
  • Experience working with productized services or ideally the sales tax industry
  • Proficiency in using a data-driven approach to optimize sales and marketing performance
  • Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively

Interpersonal

While creative, design, and sales skills are valued, the primary focus is an innovative leader excited to drive results through disciplined execution of comprehensive strategies. We want a person who can build the system to execute, report, learn and iterate on the sales and marketing initiatives toward our long-term company goals. 

 

Your Primary Responsibilities

  • Vision & Direction. Drive the long-term roadmap for the Sales & Marketing Team and provide thoughtful expertise to the senior leadership team. Ensure alignment with company strategy, focusing on process improvement, technology adoption, resource allocation and team capability building.
  • Team Development and Leadership. Develop the Sales & Marketing Team members. Ensure adequate learning opportunities for all staff related to current innovative trends and emerging technologies, and other areas of interest. Effectively communicate processes, procedures and their underlying reasons to the team. Identify areas where employees need additional training and hold them accountable for their work.
  • Messaging & Positioning. Take ownership of the overall messaging and positioning of the company. Understand the target customer to create messages that resonate with them, help create campaigns to reach them, and provide training to the team to communicate that messaging consistently and effectively.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis. Monitor industry trends and competitor activities. Provide insights and recommendations to inform and adjust business strategies.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration. Build and maintain strong relationships between Sales & Marketing and other departments. Ensure effective communication loops that align on goals, projects and outcomes.

 

What Success Looks Like:

No surprises here! After a year on the job, you’ll be measured by these specific outcomes:

  • Target revenue / new client spots attainment
  • Target lead generation
  • Optimized marketing spend to deliver at least 3.0+ CAC 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: 
    • Base: $137,500
    • Bonus structure based on achieving new client revenue generation 
  • 43 days off per year. This includes 22 holidays per year, plus 21 days of PTO per year. Yes, seriously.

  • Company pays 100% of health, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance, and 99% of dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) Plan with generous company matching. We match 100% of up to a 3% contribution, and an additional 50% match on a 4-5% contribution.

  • The ability to participate in the company profit sharing program the year after your hire date (pending passing a financial literacy quiz.)
