Who backs Dash0

The company was founded in 2023, launched a beta in September 2024 and went generally available in November 2024 alongside a $9.5M seed led by Accel. Nine months later it had 270+ customers and raised a $35M Series A co-led by Accel and Cherry Ventures (October 2025), then a $110M Series B led by Balderton Capital in March 2026 at a $1B valuation, taking total funding to $155M with 600+ paying customers including Zalando, Taco Bell and The Telegraph; the site now claims 800+. Other backers include DIG Ventures, DTCP, July Fund and Deutsche Telekom's T.Capital. In 2026 it acquired Lumigo (Tel Aviv, AWS and serverless observability) and Polar Signals (Berlin, continuous profiling, the open source Parca project and the Great Lakes storage engine).

What is Dash0?

Dash0 is an observability platform built natively on OpenTelemetry and other open standards (OTLP, PromQL, Perses dashboards), so logs, metrics, traces and now continuous profiles land in one store without proprietary agents, and pricing is based on data volume rather than per data type. Its Agent0 layer adds AI agents for root cause analysis, dashboard and alert toil, cost, security anomalies and deployment validation; the June 2026 repositioning is "Observability for the AI Era", with Agent0 investigating anomalies and shipping fixes as pull requests. A Kubernetes operator auto-instruments Java, Node.js, .NET, Python and Ruby workloads.

Who founded Dash0

Mirko Novakovic, CEO and co-founder. Co-founded codecentric, a German IT consultancy that grew to around 500 people, then in April 2015 co-founded Instana with Pete Abrams, Fabian Lange and Pavlo Baron, raising from Target Partners, Accel and Meritech before IBM acquired it in November 2020 (he has cited a $500M figure); he stayed as VP Hybrid Cloud Management and Watson AIOps at IBM until 2021. He has angel-invested in more than 70 B2B SaaS startups through New Forge, and studied information technology at Berufsakademie Stuttgart and SMB management at the University of St. Gallen.

Ben Blackmore, CTO and co-founder. Spent six years at Instana leading frontend architecture, growing its UI community to over 80 contributors, building distributed tracing and ingestion systems and leading the real user monitoring product, then was a staff engineer at Steadybit; he and Novakovic have worked together since codecentric. He studied software engineering at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Venlo, where he still serves as an external expert.

Michele Mancioppi, Chief Architect, Head of Open Source and Community, co-founder. Staff engineer at SAP leading a company-wide observability effort for SAP Cloud Platform, then Senior Technical Product Manager at Instana owning the agent and distributed tracing, then product manager for observability at Canonical and Lumigo. He is an OpenTelemetry maintainer, co-created OTelBin, and holds a PhD from Tilburg University (2015).

Miel Donkers, Founding engineer and Principal Software Engineer. Software craftsman at codecentric Nederland, senior engineer at Instana and IBM after the acquisition, then principal cloud engineer at ClickHouse; at Dash0 he owns backend systems and the OpenTelemetry and Prometheus integrations.

Marcel Birkner, Founding engineer and Head of Platform Engineering. Software consultant at codecentric, staff site reliability engineer at Instana from 2018 to 2021 through the IBM acquisition, then SRE at ClickHouse; at Dash0 he architects and operates the infrastructure behind the platform.

Why Dash0 is exciting to work for

The team has done this before. The five-person founding team all came through Instana, the APM company IBM bought in 2020, and the wider staff skews the same way: the most common previous employers are IBM Instana (26 people), IBM (17), codecentric (16), Datadog (12) and Grafana Labs (9), per Crustdata's September 2026 count.

The growth is steep and recent. Dash0 was around 20 people at the seed in November 2024, 40 in September 2025, 130 by the Series B in March 2026 and, in CEO Mirko Novakovic's words in July 2026, "almost 200". Customers went from 270 to more than 600 to 800+ in about a year, and Novakovic told Bloomberg the goal is $100M in ARR "pretty quickly". His stated planning rule now: "A 2027 revenue goal needs a team in place before 2027 starts. That means hiring now."

Open source is real work here, not a marketing line. Chief Architect Michele Mancioppi is an OpenTelemetry maintainer who co-leads the Injector and Packaging SIGs, the team co-created OTelBin (a visual editor for Collector configs) and the Instrumentation Score spec, and Parca stays open source after the Polar Signals deal. Every posting promises "direct access to founders and leadership".

Dash0 vibe check

Office
Remote-first; the company had no office at all until 2025.
Pace
Glassdoor rates work-life balance 3.2/5 against 4.2 for culture and values (5 reviews, 2026).
Equity
Every posting includes equity participation, and engineering roles have been advertised with stock options.

What to expect from the culture

Novakovic is explicit about the type of person he wants: "kind, hungry, flexible people who are a good fit with Dash0's DNA", people who "can handle chaos, who are flexible, who can work remotely without needing constant structure". He calls the approach "very opinionated, but it's honest", and put it more bluntly in 2025: "I want to hire people I like." His reasoning is that the first 50 to 100 hires set the standard and end up hiring people like themselves.

The company started fully distributed ("We don't have an office. Everybody works from home.") and Novakovic still frames it as a remote company where "relationships happen IRL": the whole team gets together at least twice a year at off-sites, he flew the entire company to KubeCon, and off-sites are planned with deliberate time for not working, with people sharing rented houses so colleagues who have never met in person do. Postings describe a "collaborative, fast-moving team culture with a builder mindset", and the sales postings say plainly "we measure outcomes, not activity".

On product, the stance is anti-gimmick. From the engineering blog: "We're not here to reinvent Clippy. Engineers don't need a chatbot explaining the obvious." Novakovic's own founding test was passion for the space: he dropped his first post-Instana idea, a CRM for SaaS companies, because "if you're going to work as hard as you possibly can, which is requisite for a startup founder, you have to love the space you're in, no question."

How to get hired at Dash0

Hiring runs through Ashby with scorecards and a small recruiting team built out in late 2025, when an embedded talent partner made 50 hires in seven months and took the US team from zero to 27. Novakovic joined every interview, in every function, until the company was around 50 people and says he still joins as many as he can, so expect a founder conversation that tests kindness and comfort with ambiguity as much as skills. Sales postings ask for 3+ years of quota-carrying experience against $1M+ or €1M+ quotas and a value-based methodology such as MEDDPICC; solutions engineer roles carry the internal title Solutions Architect and the US ones require business travel.

Most open roles in September 2026 are go-to-market (account executives, SDRs, solutions engineers, partnerships, enablement) across the US and EMEA. Nothing on the careers page mentions visa sponsorship or relocation, and benefits are described as location-specific, so ask early if either matters to you.

Dash0 hiring FAQ

How much does Dash0 pay?

US postings on Dash0's Ashby board publish ranges: Enterprise Account Executive $250K to $320K, Commercial Account Executive $180K to $230K, Enterprise Solutions Engineer $180K to $240K with commission, Commercial Solutions Engineer $120K to $139K, and Enterprise SDR $95K to $115K. EMEA postings do not publish ranges. Every role adds a €60 a month phone and internet allowance.

Are Dash0 jobs fully remote?

Mostly. US account executive and solutions engineer roles are fully remote within a coast or the whole country, with a stated preference for Boston or New York on the East Coast; UK and EMEA solutions roles are fully remote; engineering roles have been remote from anywhere in Europe (in 2024 the CEO said jobs were remote "but in European timezone for now"). SDR roles are the exception: they are hybrid in New York, Boston or Amsterdam.

What is Dash0's tech stack?

Backend services are written in Go, with Java also core to the team; ClickHouse is the main store for all OpenTelemetry data and PostgreSQL the only other database, with Kafka in the pipeline and the OpenTelemetry Collector for ingestion. The frontend is React, TypeScript and Next.js. The Great Lakes engine from the Polar Signals acquisition is planned to eventually replace ClickHouse.

Does Dash0 hire juniors or interns?

Occasionally. In 2026 it listed a Junior IT Administrator (0 to 2 years, remote EMEA), SDR roles asking for 1 to 2 years, and a Strategic Talent Projects internship that asked applicants to attach a 30-second video with their CV.

Can I apply to Dash0 without an open role?

Yes. The careers page has an Unsolicited Application for EMEA that is reviewed on a rolling basis; Dash0 says not to expect a response within five business days and that recruiting will reach out if a role matches, keeping your profile on file.
