Hostie careers: remote jobs, culture and where they hire

The AI virtual concierge that answers a restaurant's phones, texts and reservations so the front of house never misses a call.

Team of 15$16M total ($12M Series A led by Obvious Ventures, July 2026)Backed by Obvious Ventures and Gradient Ventures (Google's AI fund)

What is Hostie?

Hostie builds an AI-powered virtual concierge for restaurants. Its voice bot, named Jasmine, answers phone calls in the restaurant's own voice, along with texts and emails, to handle reservations, takeout orders and private event inquiries, freeing staff from being pulled off the floor to answer the phone. The platform integrates with the reservation and POS systems restaurants already run, including OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Toast and Square, and gives managers live transcripts and visibility into every conversation. Over 100 restaurants use it, including Flour + Water, the Slanted Door Group, Trader Vic's, Cactus Club Cafe and Michelin- and James Beard-recognized kitchens.

The company was founded in 2024 in San Francisco by Randall Hom, who previously led Ready Meals at Instacart and owned Back to Back, a Nob Hill pizzeria and natural wine bar, and Brendan Wood, an engineering leader from Uber, Eaze and Lindy.ai, later joined by founding engineer Anson Airoldi, formerly of Meta. Hom started the company after living the problem himself, answering phones mid-shift while trying to run a restaurant. Hostie raised a $4M seed round in April 2025 led by Gradient Ventures, Google's AI-focused fund, then a $12M Series A in July 2026 led by Obvious Ventures, bringing total funding to $16M.

Why Hostie is exciting to work for

Hostie says revenue grew 10x in the year before its Series A. The platform has handled more than 2 million guest conversations, 24 million messages and 400,000 booked covers, plus over 50,000 private event inquiries, across its restaurant partners nationwide. You would be working with well known hospitality groups directly, not a generic SaaS customer base.

Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, equity for all employees, a 401(k), flexible time off, a monthly wellness stipend, and a $50 monthly dining stipend to use at partner restaurants.

It's an operator-founder company: the CEO ran a restaurant and hit the exact problem Hostie solves, and the product is validated by operators like Burma Love, whose manager described it as answering guest questions gracefully, and Flour + Water Hospitality Group, an investor as well as a customer.

What to expect from the culture

Hostie names five values: Lead With Hospitality, Show Up Authentically, Act Like Restaurateurs, Move Fast and Keep It Simple, and Be a True Partner, all oriented around treating restaurant partners the way a good host treats a guest.

CEO Randall Hom frames the product as protecting hospitality rather than replacing it: guest communication volume keeps climbing, and Hostie exists so teams can keep up with it while staying focused on the people in front of them. The team is remote-first, based out of San Francisco with a growing presence in New York City and a planned office in Pacific Heights.
