Who backs Kinter

Kinter has raised a little over $27M under its earlier Alloy Automation name. After Y Combinator's Winter 2020 batch and a first round of about $1M raised in early 2020, it closed a $4M seed in February 2021 led by Bain Capital Ventures and Abstract, with Color Capital, BoxGroup and Shippo founder Laura Behrens Wu, at a $20M post-money valuation. A $20M Series A followed in February 2022, led by Andreessen Horowitz with FirstMark Capital and Hawke Ventures, executives from Casper, Hims and Glossier, and founders of Klaviyo, ReCharge and Attentive; a16z general partner David Ulevitch joined the board. The press release put total funding at $27M, and the founder's site now says $27.5M+. No new round has been announced since the Kinter launch.

What is Kinter?

Kinter builds AI accountants for mid-market finance teams: agents that run the expense side of the month-end close inside the ERP the company already uses, currently NetSuite and QuickBooks Online. One agent handles payroll entries, another watches for accruals through the month and drafts proposals, another reads invoice attachments to find prepaid expenses, and the platform matches about 95% of transactions automatically. Every action goes through a human approval step before it touches the books, with a timestamped, exportable audit trail.

The company is the same YC W20 entity that built Alloy Automation, the integration platform used by Amazon, Best Buy and Burberry. Kinter's founder describes walking away from that growing business in 2025 because integration infrastructure was commoditizing, and rebuilding around accounting instead. Kinter launched publicly on June 23, 2026 after more than 600 conversations with controllers, VPs of finance and directors of accounting. It cites Amazon, Mastercard and UPS as customers, and early users report up to 70% time savings on identifying and managing expenses; the controller at QuoteVelocity said Kinter surfaced prepaids her own team had missed. The team is about 30 people.

Who founded Kinter

Gregg Mojica, Founder and CEO. Co-founded Alloy Automation in 2019 with Sara Du (its CEO until January 2024, now building Ando) and served as its CTO before taking over as CEO and steering the company into Kinter. Earlier an application architect at Fiserv in Mountain View, where he helped build the First Data developer portal, a technical writer on iOS at AppCoda, and a scout for Bain Capital Ventures; named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2023. Self-taught, coding from age 10 and working professionally from 17; accepted to Cornell but deferred to work in Silicon Valley after high school and never took a degree.

Where does Kinter hire remotely?

Kinter is a distributed company headquartered in San Francisco (330 Townsend Street) that hires remotely in the United States and Brazil. Why Kinter is exciting to work for

Kinter is a few months into a new product, so the work is product discovery rather than maintenance. Engineering postings say the agentic architecture is still being defined, that the ERP integration layer is being built from the ground up, and that the patterns you build now become the template for what comes next. A launch-day founder note gives the flavor of the problems: the team discovered it was silently missing 2,300 bills because of a pagination limit in the QuickBooks Online API.

Kinter's engineers sit close to the customer. Both engineering postings expect you to spend real time with customers' finance teams to understand how their close works and where they do and do not trust automation, and to translate that judgment into the product. The company runs an in-house Controller, Armen Aklian, CPA, who writes publicly about which close tasks need human judgment, and it hosts Closing Time, an invite-only community of about 330 controllers and accounting practitioners with supper clubs in New York, Chicago, Dallas and Santa Monica.

Kinter vibe check

Office
Distributed by design: the careers page says "great work can happen anywhere" and every opening is listed as remote.
Pace
Postings describe "a startup pace" where the roadmap shifts with what customers need and a shippable feature this week beats a polished plan that takes a quarter.

What to expect from the culture

Kinter publishes five values and rewrites them for each role: "Be Fearless" (think big, move boldly), "Just Do It" (ship, learn, repeat), "Sweat the Details" (good enough is not good enough), "Obsess Over Customers" and "Tell it like it is" (be direct, be kind). The engineering version of the first says you will "work in parts of the stack nobody has fully figured out yet" and should move into the uncertainty rather than wait for someone else to derisk it; the version of the second says "a working agent capability you can iterate on beats a perfect architecture."

The stakes are stated plainly. An applied AI posting notes that "a misjudged confidence threshold or an agent that acts when it should have escalated can misstate a customer's books," and that in this domain an agent that says "I'm not sure, here's what I'd check" beats one that confidently guesses. The careers page describes "a tight-knit, highly skilled team where ideas are valued over titles" and says it hires "builders who take initiative, not order-takers." Founder Gregg Mojica's tone in public is sharp: "Finance software has lied to accountants for 30 years. It promised efficiency but delivered a faster way to do the same manual work."

How to get hired at Kinter

Kinter does not publish an interview process; roles are posted on its careers page and on Y Combinator's job board, with a general "Don't see the right role for you?" application for people who do not match an opening. Postings are specific about the bar: the Senior Applied AI Software Engineer role asks for 2+ years shipping autonomous agent systems in production (not prototypes), 8+ years building SaaS products, experience operating agents in a sensitive domain such as finance, healthcare or legal, hands-on use of an agent framework such as LangGraph, AgentCore, AutoGen, CrewAI or LlamaIndex, and Node.js and TypeScript. The Senior Software Engineer role wants ERP or other quirky third-party API integration experience, and both want generalists comfortable with a shifting roadmap.

The Head of Marketing posting says outright that proximity to pipeline and hands-on execution matter more than title or team size, and asks for 11+ years and a B2B SaaS track record owning pipeline.

Kinter hiring FAQ

How much does Kinter pay?

As of September 2026 Kinter lists the Head of Marketing at $200,000 to $230,000 (United States) and the Senior Applied AI Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer at $80,000 to $100,000 (Brazil). Benefits and equity are not published on the postings or the careers page.

Does Kinter sponsor visas?

No. All three current postings on the Y Combinator job board are marked "US citizen/visa only", so applicants need existing work authorization for the listed country.

What is Kinter's tech stack?

Node.js, TypeScript and React across the stack, with an agent harness that handles orchestration, tool-calling, context and memory, plus evals, curated datasets, regression tests and tracing. The company's blog refers to running its agents on Claude models, the product connects to NetSuite and QuickBooks Online, and the platform is SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II compliant with AES-256 encryption, role-based access controls built for accountants, and isolated infrastructure so customer data is never used to train models.

Does Kinter hire junior engineers or interns?

No. There are no internship or junior listings; every current role is senior.

Who will I work with at Kinter?

A team of about 30. Named people include Controller Armen Aklian, CPA (Zendesk, ENDVR), VP of Marketing Kristine Colosimo, who edits the Closing Time publication, Jonathan Lee (Twilio, Liferay) on product, Michael Nadel (Drip, Target, Goldman Sachs), Chief Revenue Officer Charles Kim, who joined as Head of Sales in 2023, and Danny An running people and business operations. Marketing today is two people, one on demand generation and one on brand and design, which the Head of Marketing hire will lead.
