Radar Labs careers: remote jobs, culture and where they hire
Geolocation infrastructure (geofencing SDKs, maps APIs, fraud and location intelligence) processing over 1 billion API calls a day, built by an NYC team backed by Insight Partners and Accel.
Who backs Radar Labs
Radar has raised $85.5M, a figure the company publishes on its own careers and about pages as of October 2026. Accel first invested at seed stage in 2017, the year Radar launched out of Expa Labs, and led the Series B announced in February 2020. The $55M Series C followed in February 2022 at a $365M valuation, led by Insight Partners with participation from existing investors including Accel, Two Sigma Ventures and Heavybit. No new round has been announced since.
What is Radar Labs?
Radar (radar.com) builds full-stack location infrastructure: geofencing SDKs for iOS and Android, maps and geocoding APIs, and AI-enabled products for marketing, fraud and operations teams. The scale is real infrastructure scale. As of October 2026 the company reports 1,000+ installed apps, 300M+ installed devices and over 1 billion API requests per day, served from a multi-availability-zone AWS architecture with a major initiative under way to go multi-region at 99.99%+ availability. Radar built its own geospatial database, HorizonDB, in Rust, and sponsors OpenStreetMap, MapLibre and OpenAddresses.
Co-founders Nick Patrick and Coby Berman met at Foursquare and launched Radar out of Expa Labs in February 2017, after Patrick kept rebuilding the same location plumbing as a product manager at Foursquare and Handy. The company grew up in Brooklyn and has since moved into a new HQ in Flatiron, Manhattan. Its job postings cite customers from high-growth startups to the Fortune 500 (a 2021 interview named T-Mobile, American Eagle Outfitters, Ibotta and Afterpay), and say Radar was recently named a top 10 best place to work in NYC by Crain's.
Who founded Radar Labs
Nick Patrick, Co-founder and CEO. Product manager at Microsoft, then Foursquare and Handy, where repeatedly rebuilding background location tracking convinced him the backend should be a platform. Computer science background with an MBA from Harvard. Launched Radar out of Expa Labs in February 2017.
Coby Berman, Co-founder. Met Nick Patrick at Foursquare and co-founded Radar with him in the Expa Labs program. Candidates meet one of the two co-founders in the final onsite round.
Where does Radar Labs hire remotely?
HQ is in Flatiron, Manhattan, NYC (the company recently moved into a new office there). Most of the team works from the office 4 or 5 days per week, but as of October 2026 many engineering postings are listed as NYC or US Remote; the data platform posting, for example, says the role "can be either in our NYC HQ or remote in the US". Remote hiring is US only.

Why Radar Labs is exciting to work for
The engineering problems are high-throughput and physical. Your code runs on hundreds of millions of devices, the platform handles a billion-plus API calls a day, and current initiatives include multi-region deployment, 99.99%+ availability and cloud cost work. Radar also builds unusually deep for its size: HorizonDB, its own Rust geospatial database, plus data pipelines in Airflow and Scala Spark.
Engineers own outcomes, not tickets. Postings describe projects run by an engineering lead, an executive and a go-to-market lead, with engineers figuring out what to build, talking to customers and prospects, helping close them and getting them live. A signature practice is "Walk A Mile": literally walking around dogfooding the Radar SDK, because device behavior in the real world is the product. Pay is published: as of October 2026 the senior and staff engineering postings list $200K to $300K plus equity.
Radar Labs vibe check
- Office
- In-person-leaning: most of the team works from the Flatiron, NYC HQ 4 or 5 days a week, while many engineering roles are also offered US remote.
- Pace
- "To us, a week is a long time, and we expect to ship big things every week." Monday planning in small groups, projects tracked in Linear.
- On-call
- Most engineers join the rotation, about one week every 1 to 2 months.
What to expect from the culture
Radar publishes five values: "Walk a mile" (deeply understand customers and the technical nuances), "Build for scale", "Play offense" (proactive, not reactive), "Raise the bar" (extremely high standards, the best work of our careers) and "Enjoy the ride". The careers page is blunt about the operating style: "We operate like a championship team, not a family", with generous rewards and fast growth for high performers, and it describes the company as apolitical and mission-focused, staying out of social or political activism unrelated to the core business.
It is an in-person-leaning company that still hires US remote engineers. The careers page says most of the team works from the NYC office 4 or 5 days per week, while many engineering postings list "US Remote" as an alternative to the NYC HQ. Postings say most engineers are former technical co-founders or former Radar interns from schools like Waterloo and CMU, and that engineers fit one of two molds: staff-level expertise in one stack, or multi-stack at any level. Weeks start with Monday planning in small groups, work is tracked in Linear, most engineers join the on-call rotation (about one week every 1 to 2 months), and the stated pace is "to us, a week is a long time, and we expect to ship big things every week". On AI: engineers choose their own tools (Claude and Cursor are the most popular), the team writes Claude skills such as one for debugging HorizonDB, and every PR is still reviewed by a knowledgeable engineer alongside AI reviewers.
How to get hired at Radar Labs
Radar publishes its interview process in each engineering posting: a call with the technical recruiter, then several technical Zoom rounds (code screen, coding round and system design), then a final round onsite at the NYC HQ where you meet one of the co-founders, someone from outside engineering, and more of the team. Roles are posted on the Ashby board at https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/radar; as of October 2026 there are 18 openings spanning SRE, ML, data platform, backend, product, platform, mobile, QA and product security engineering, plus engineering managers, product managers and go-to-market roles.
The bar is specific per role. The SRE posting, for example, asks for production AWS managed via Terraform, high-availability multi-region Kubernetes, large sharded MongoDB clusters under heavy read-write load, and high-growth startup experience, with bonus points for being a former technical co-founder. Interest in talking to customers is listed as a requirement, not a nicety.
