Summary
About the roleOur ANZ InsuranceSuite practice delivers Guidewire implementations and cloud transformations for some of the largest insurers in the region. As an Architect, you own the design and delivery of one workstream on a customer program, either Functional (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter) or Integration. You work alongside a Lead or Senior Architect and mentor the consultants and developers on your track.
You'll be hands-on. You design the solution, build the hard parts, review your team's work, and are the person the customer's project leadership relies on for your track. We hire Architects with the expectation that they grow into Senior Architects, and we put the mentoring and project exposure in place for that.
Job Description
What you'll do
- Design and estimate: Turn business requirements into designs for medium-complexity product gaps and enhancements. Estimate the work accurately and explain the trade-offs clearly.
- Lead a workstream: Take full responsibility for defining, planning and delivering your track, from backlog shape and quality reviews to delivering on commitments.
- Build and review: Write production-quality configuration and code in Gosu and Java on Guidewire Cloud Platform. Lead code and design reviews so your track meets Guidewire Cloud standards.
- Anticipate problems: Find risks and issues before they land. Bring facts, analysis and options to the customer and the project team, not just the problem.
- Deliver with AI: Use AI-assisted engineering tools in design, configuration, integration and testing to deliver faster without lowering quality, and help your team adopt the patterns that work.
- Coach the team: Mentor junior consultants and the customer's or partner's developers on Guidewire functionality, best practice and delivery methodology.
- Work with project leadership: Communicate clearly with project managers, product owners and customer architects. Adjust your message for the audience and help them make informed decisions.
- Contribute to the practice: Share what you learn through reusable assets, knowledge articles and internal sessions.
Track focus
Functional:
- Configure PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter or BillingCenter across the insurance lifecycle: product model, rules, workflows and UI.
- Use Advanced Product Designer (APD) and product-definition patterns to model and change products.
- Work with business analysts and product owners to turn user stories into configuration and to find gaps against base product early.
Integration:
- Design and build integrations using Cloud API, Integration Gateway, App Events and messaging.
- Connect InsuranceSuite to the customer's systems and third parties, such as payments, documents, rating, data and identity.
- Own the integration contracts, error handling and non-functional behaviour (performance, resilience, security) for your track.
What success looks like in your first year
- You're running a workstream on a customer program on your own, and the customer's project leadership treats you as the go-to person for your track.
- Your designs and estimates hold up in delivery, and your team's work consistently passes Guidewire Cloud standards and quality reviews.
- At least one junior team member has visibly improved through your coaching.
- You've contributed at least one reusable asset or pattern back to the practice.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years delivering core insurance or enterprise systems, including at least 3 years hands-on with Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter or BillingCenter).
- Delivery across most phases of an implementation, including Inception, build, stabilisation and go-live.
- Strong knowledge of one InsuranceSuite product and a working understanding of at least one other.
- Proficiency in Gosu and Java, plus Git-based delivery and CI/CD (TeamCity, Jenkins or similar).
- Experience leading a small team or a workstream, including reviewing other people's work.
- A good understanding of P&C insurance operations: policy, claims and billing.
- Clear written and spoken English, and comfort working directly with customer stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Delivery on Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP), or a self-managed-to-cloud migration.
- Experience with Jutro, Guidewire Data Platform, or the wider Guidewire portfolio.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants or agents in a delivery team.
- Experience in Agile delivery, including holding a Scrum Master or delivery-lead role.
- Knowledge of the ANZ insurance market, including regulatory context such as APRA.
Qualifications
- Guidewire ACE certification in at least one InsuranceSuite product (or the ability to get one within six months of joining).
- A degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- AWS or other cloud certification is a plus.
Why join us
- Work on the platform itself, alongside the people who build it, on some of the largest insurance programs in the region.
- A defined path from Architect to Senior Architect and beyond, with mentoring from experienced Lead Architects.
- Early access to how Guidewire is using AI to change InsuranceSuite delivery
#LI-AA1.
