About the Job

As Director of Engineering, you will lead the engineering organization behind scalable, secure, AI-enabled healthcare technology that improves clinical and operational outcomes. This role is ideal for a hands-on strategic leader who wants to build modern platforms, develop high-performing teams, and shape the future of healthcare delivery through thoughtful technology, data, and AI and will include all aspects of technology build including Infrastructure/Hosting, Security/Compliance, Product/Tool integrations, Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence and supporting existing vendor product stack, etc. You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer and work remotely.

What you’ll do:

• Technology strategy and architecture

  • Provide strategic leadership for the healthcare engineering team by setting the technical vision and direction for scalable, secure, AI-enabled healthcare IT solutions that address evolving customer needs, improve clinical and operational workflows, and create measurable business impact.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the healthcare industry, including applied AI, automation, interoperability standards, cloud-native architectures, cybersecurity, and data platforms, and assess their potential impact on the organization.

  • Set the technical vision and lead technical decisions to ensure the team builds simple, reliable, secure, scalable, and high-performing products using modern engineering practices.

  • Manage and evolve the technology stack used in healthcare IT solutions, making strategic decisions about platforms, frameworks, tools, cloud infrastructure, data architecture, integration patterns, developer productivity, and AI-enabling capabilities.
    

• Product delivery and cross-functional execution

  • Collaborate closely with business development, product management, design, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver product features and enhancements that meet the evolving needs of customers and partners.

  • Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring predictable delivery of high-quality products and solutions while improving engineering velocity, reliability, security, and operational excellence.

  • Develop and manage budgets related to healthcare engineering projects, and optimize resource allocation to meet project deadlines and organizational goals.
    

• AI, security, quality, and compliance

  • Identify and mitigate technical, security, privacy, regulatory, and AI-related risks associated with healthcare IT projects. Collaborate with security, compliance, clinical, and legal stakeholders to ensure healthcare systems adhere to applicable industry standards, data protection requirements, and responsible AI practices.

  • Establish and maintain robust quality engineering processes to ensure the reliability, accuracy, safety, usability, and auditability of healthcare technology solutions, including automated testing, production monitoring, data quality controls, and validation practices for AI-enabled features.

  • Implement testing methodologies and standards that meet regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Bring clarity when faced with ambiguity, and motivate and guide the team through complex problem-solving.

  • Drive recruitment efforts to attract top-tier engineering talent, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, such as healthcare informatics, computer science, or business administration.

• 15+ years of demonstrated experience leading high-performing engineering teams, including experience developing managers, scaling modern software platforms, improving engineering operating models, and delivering enterprise-grade products in regulated or data-intensive environments.

• Extensive experience in healthcare IT, with a proven track record in full-stack technical leadership roles and taking products to market.

• Experience in full-stack development, including Java, MS SQL, ReactJS, Power BI, and Snowflake.

• Strong understanding of healthcare systems, interoperability, and data security.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of agile development methodologies and project management practices.

Work Location:

Remote (Preferred States): Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas.

Additional Information:

Full-time base salary range of $185,000 to $210,000 plus medical, dental, and vision. This position will have a matching 401K and an incentive bonus of 10%.
