About the role

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer at BioRender, you will operate with end-to-end ownership over our core IT systems and infrastructure. This is not a ticket-handling or maintenance-focused role. You will be one of two Systems Engineers on the team, working to build a modern, engineering-forward IT organization. You will partner closely with teams across the company to design systems that scale, eliminate manual toil, and ensure our systems stay secure and compliant by default.
Our IT team has a builder mindset. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in fast-moving environments, prefers writing code and automation over manual processes, and takes pride in building reliable infrastructure that enables everyone else to do their best work.
You will own key areas of our internal infrastructure based on your technical strengths, driving solutions from design through execution and continuous refinement. Your work will directly impact every employee at BioRender as we scale our platform globally.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as technical owner for Client Platform Engineering, managing our macOS fleet via Iru (Kandji) across zero-touch provisioning, OS updates, compliance, and security baselines.
  • Own and govern Identity and Access Management through Okta, leading app integrations, SSO, lifecycle rules, SCIM provisioning, and automated access reviews.
  • Design and implement end-to-end automation for core operations including joiner, mover, and leaver workflows, evidence collection, and system provisioning.
  • Lead AI enablement initiatives, integrating modern tools into internal workflows to boost company-wide productivity and streamline day-to-day operations.
  • Build and manage IT infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles, transitioning operational setups into version-controlled systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, security, and company leadership to clearly communicate technical choices and balance velocity with security.
  • Incorporate modern automation and tooling into your daily engineering workflow to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Help define engineering standards, operational practices, and systemic improvements for BioRender's IT platform as our workforce grows.

What you bring to the table

  • Several years of experience building and operating modern IT infrastructure within fast-growing software companies.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in at least two key domain areas: large-scale Mac management, identity and access governance, IT automation, or infrastructure as code.
  • Comfortable working with code, combined with solid practice using Git, peer code reviews, and software engineering standards.
  • Hands-on experience implementing infrastructure as code to manage SaaS platforms or identity providers.
  • Proven track record of designing and building automated user lifecycle (joiner/mover/leaver) systems and cross-platform integrations.
  • Security-minded approach that builds compliance, access controls, and safety directly into underlying platform architecture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
