Who we are:
At Wagepoint, we're good people. It's easy to feel that way when you're surrounded by folks doing the best work of their careers, building great payroll software for small businesses across Canada.
Our team brings together diverse backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, and ideas to make payroll the easiest part of running a business.
We're remote-first, growing, and looking for passionate people who don't settle for the first solution or the way it's been done before. We care deeply about our customers and each other, and understand that when it comes to payroll, getting it right matters.
Our values guide how we work and what we expect from one another:
Cultivate Impact by focusing on what matters most and delivering meaningful outcomes for our customers.
Unify as One Team by collaborating openly, communicating clearly, and rallying around shared goals.
Stay Curious and Kind by challenging assumptions, learning quickly, and leading with empathy.
If you want to build the future of payroll in a place where your ideas are welcomed and your contributions matter, look no further!
The role at high level:
We're looking for a talented Events Marketing Manager who enjoys tackling hard problems and wants to create meaningful impact for small businesses across Canada. In this role, you'll own the strategy, planning, and execution of Wagepoint's event program, including tradeshows, industry events, partner and customer events, annual summits, and Wagefest, our two-day virtual event. You'll also own the execution of our webinar strategy and delivery of every webinar in collaboration with the content marketing team. You will report directly to our Growth Marketing Manager.
What you'll be expected to own:
Own Wagepoint's annual event strategy and calendar across tradeshows, industry events, customer and partner events, proprietary experiences, and annual summits.
Research and evaluate event opportunities based on audience, strategic fit, cost, reach, and potential business impact.
Recommend where Wagepoint should invest, scale back, or create its own experiences.
Build clear plans for each event, including objectives, target audience, experience, promotion strategy, budget, timelines, and success measures.
Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of tradeshows and industry events, including contracts, booth requirements, shipping, staffing, booth design, signage, collateral, giveaways, demos, and on-site logistics.
Own Wagefest from strategy and programming through promotion, production, and post-event follow-up, including speakers, agenda, registration, communications, content, and attendee experience.
Plan and execute three annual summits, including the theme, concept, objectives, speakers, agenda, attendee experience, and post-event follow-up.
Manage event budgets, vendors, venues, production partners, and suppliers, including negotiating for the best value from event investments.
Own event timelines, registrations, travel, shipping, staffing, and other logistics while keeping internal stakeholders aligned and on track.
Build repeatable event playbooks, checklists, processes, and templates that make the program easier to execute and scale.
Establish success measures for every event, track performance and ROI, and use results to improve future event selection, execution, and investment.
Own the end-to-end execution of Wagepoint's webinar strategy in collaboration with the content marketing team, including scheduling, speaker coordination, registration, promotion, platform setup, live production, and post-webinar follow-up.
Work closely with Sales and external partners before events to align on target audiences, objectives, pre-booked meetings, and follow-up responsibilities.
Coordinate with the broader marketing team on event assets to ensure every event is on-brand.
Partner with Marketing, SMB and Partner Sales teams on post-event plans that turn attendance and engagement into ongoing customer and prospect opportunities.
Bring an ownership mindset to the role by anticipating problems, closing gaps, and making sure every event is well organized and ready to go.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in event marketing, field marketing, experiential marketing, or a related role.
Experience owning events from strategy and planning through execution and post-event measurement.
Experience with tradeshows, conferences, virtual events, and executive or customer experiences.
Proven ability to build event plans and budgets and manage vendors, agencies, and production partners.
Experience planning and running webinars, including platform setup, promotion, and live production.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, and stakeholders at once.
Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to keep multiple people moving in the same direction.
A commercial mindset and understanding that events are an investment that should support growth, relationships, and the brand.
Strong ownership and accountability, with the ability to anticipate problems and close gaps without needing to be chased.
A hands-on approach and willingness to manage and execute all aspects of an event, regardless of the size or significance of the task.
Adaptability and the ability to keep moving when priorities change.
A measurement-focused mindset, with the ability to track event performance and ROI and use results to improve future decisions.
Bonus points if:
You have experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or another complex category.
You have experience marketing to SMBs, accountants, or bookkeepers.
You have experience owning large-scale virtual events or multi-day conferences.
You have experience with partner, customer, or executive events.
You have experience using event platforms, marketing automation, and CRM tools to manage registration, engagement, and follow-up.
What we bring to the table:
Impact: Dig in and directly contribute to Wagepoint’s growth and success.
Culture: Work alongside a team that genuinely enjoys solving problems together, celebrates wins, supports one another through challenges, and still finds time for the occasional terrible joke.
Growth: We believe learning is part of the job. We're committed to helping you Get Better Every Day (a representation of our Stay Curious and Kind value!) by offering professional development, new experiences, and career growth as we continue to evolve.
Innovation: Curiosity and experimentation encouraged! Bring ideas, challenge assumptions, responsibly utilize AI, and help shape better ways of working.
