Job Description

About VyOS Networks

VyOS Networks is a leader in open networking for organizations that need secure, scalable, automated operations across bare metal, cloud and edge. Our product, VyOS, is an enterprise-grade networking platform for consistent operations and automation at scale, delivering full control and high performance with zero vendor lock-in. More than 1,500 organizations run VyOS in production, from service providers and cloud providers to enterprises and public institutions. Our goal is to restore ownership of network infrastructure to our users through transparent, vendor-neutral networking. Your network, your rules.

Job description

The System Engineer (IT Support) at VyOS is the first line of IT for our employees. This role covers internal user support: service desk tickets, access requests, user accounts from onboarding to offboarding, and setting up and maintaining macOS and Windows laptops. Our team is fully remote and spread across several countries and time zones, so most of the work happens remotely, in writing, through the IS service desk.

The System Engineer resolves most requests on their own and passes complex infrastructure issues to senior IT team members. They keep the knowledge base up to date so users can fix common issues without opening a ticket. They also look for requests that keep coming back and could be automated or prevented. This is a junior-to-middle position, with clear room to grow into broader systems and infrastructure work.

Reports directly to the CIO.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years in IT support, service desk or junior system administration.
  • Hands-on experience supporting both macOS and Windows users.
  • Experience with a ticketing system (Jira Service Management preferred).
  • Experience managing users and access in cloud services (Atlassian Cloud, Google Workspace, Entra ID or similar).
  • Experience writing knowledge base articles or user guides.

Nice to have

  • Microsoft Intune, Apple Business Manager or Windows Autopilot.
  • Jira Service Management configuration: queues, request types, SLAs and automation rules.
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Cloudflare Zero Trust.
  • AWX or n8n or Zapier.
  • Exposure to SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, MD-102, Apple Certified Support Professional or Atlassian Certified Associate.

Skills

  • Good working knowledge of macOS and Windows 10/11: setup, troubleshooting, updates and user accounts.
  • Basic knowledge of identity and access management: SSO, MFA, groups and roles, least privilege, and creating and removing user accounts.
  • Able to administer SaaS platforms such as Atlassian Cloud and Google Workspace.
  • Basic knowledge of networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi) and endpoint security.
  • Basic scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell or Python).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to problems.
  • Clear written communication: can explain a technical issue to a non-technical colleague in a short message.
  • Service mindset: owns each request from start to finish and respects users' time.
  • Able to work independently in a remote team and manage their own ticket queue.
  • Good spoken and written English (B2 or higher).
